You will receive an overview of herbaceous border management and how to get the best from your border. Members of the garden team will demonstrate how to make hazel supports for perennials and climbers, then ask you to create structures within the borders at West Dean.
This selection of seasonal afternoon courses has been put together by our Head Gardener to offer an opportunity for students to experience a hands on learning environment in the vast range of horticulture thats available at West Dean Gardens. Each course will include an overview of the subject and a practical demonstration, followed by mentored time where you can get your hands on and directly experience the task at hand.
All of the topics will directly relate to the activities at West Dean, in real life situations, with course students safe in the knowledge that our Gardens Team will be on hand to ensure that you become confident and proficient at the task, to enable you to carry out the activity at home with more self-assurance. View all courses in our Practical Gardening Series.
