This two-day Lighting Design short course focuses on the fundamentals of designing lighting schemes for residential interiors; it includes both architectural and natural light and covers subjects such as the design process, colour rendering and colour temperature, placement of lights, understanding lighting specifications, sourcing, concepts and managing residential projects. By the end of the course, you will have developed a solid understanding of the fundamentals of lighting, enabling you to produce detailed, accurate and well-organised technical drawings. The course culminates in producing a lighting scheme for a bathroom and a kitchen dining space.
This practical course is designed for students of interior design, architecture, landscape, as well as anyone with a passion for design or looking to start their own renovation project.

Suitable for complete beginners, interior design students and design enthusiasts (though an understanding of design principles and ability to read basic plans will be assumed).

Drawing pencils, eraser
A range of coloured highlighter pens - ideally also a yellow highlighter and pencil.
Additional information
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).
Daily Timetable
Course teaching 10am–4.15pm
Students arrive 9.30am-10.00am (coffee optional)
Morning teaching 10am-1pm
Lunch break 1pm-2pm (lunch is not included)
Afternoon teaching 2pm–4.15pm (15 minute break)
Teaching finishes 4.15pm
Short courses are open to anyone aged 18 and over. The course fee covers tuition and materials where stated. You will need to bring all other items listed under the Materials to bring section.
Refreshments
Coffee and tea are included in the course fee, but you will need to bring lunch with you to eat in the refreshments room. There are also plenty of other local venues to purchase food.

This venue has steps to the front reception, with limited access via a side gate to the ground floor. There is a small lift to higher floors or stairs.
