Press Release: Spooky half term Halloween fun at West Dean Gardens
Spooky half term Halloween fun at West Dean Gardens
26 - 31 October 2015 10.30am to 4.30pm (last entry 4pm)
Bring the children to West Dean Gardens for some spooky half term family fun. Children can take part in activities in a Halloween dressed marquee set up in the gardens. They can try their hand at paper crafts including making a decorative pumpkin garland, a Halloween wand or mobile or greetings card. Children's activities are included in the entry price and also include scary storytelling, colouring in a spooky eye patch to wear and face painting. In the award-winning gardens there will be a Halloween Trail with a reward at the end, to include a glow-in-the-dark pumpkin shaped lolly or Ghostbusters popping candy. Milkshakes can be purchased from the 'spooky bar'. All visitors (no age restrictions!) are invited to come along in fancy dress and there will be a goody bag prize, full of fantastic Halloween accessories to be won.
Bring the whole family and explore West Dean Gardens, including the beautiful 49 acre St. Roche's Aboretum in its autumn colours. Started in the 1830s, the aboretum comprises a two-and-a-half-mile circuit walk that encompasses a fine collection of specimen trees and shrubs. The walk also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Sussex Downs and of the beautiful flint-faced historic West Dean House in its parkland setting.
The Gardens Restaurant will be offering a seasonal menu using produce from the Kitchen Gardens wherever possible, including pumpkin soup, or you can enjoy Halloween themed cakes and a Children's Meal, or West Dean's popular Cream Tea. The Gardens Shop will be open selling beautiful greetings cards, unusual gifts, gardening accessories and plants.
