This course provides a perfect introduction to the delights and mysteries of glass engraving.
The day will give you the opportunity to experiment with a small range of tools, making marks on the surface of a piece of practice glass, in order to gain confidence with this media. You will then progress to engraving a simple decorated letter on a tumbler.
During the day, we will also look at some of the basic approaches to design and the application of a drawing to the surface of the glass.
There will be demonstrations by the tutor, some group work and plenty of individual tuition. You will receive guidance on the types of glass available for engraving, and the drills, burrs and other equipment necessary in order to pursue this enthralling subject.
