During this course, you will look at various drawing methods suitable in describing the shape, structure and volume of the figure in space.
During the course, you will work though several exercises using charcoal, Conté, pencil and ink to define light and shade, positive and negative shapes, depth, weight and form. You will achieve a greater understanding of human anatomy and proportion using measurement techniques. Drawing directly from the nude, a number of both short and long poses will be studied. Short poses will allow you to experiment with new materials and techniques while longer poses will allow for more sustained and considered study of the figure.
You will examine a variety of drawing techniques using pencil, graphite, Conté (stick or pencil), charcoal, brush and ink. Pose lengths will range from five minutes to half a day.
A life model will be provided for the duration of the course.
