Rosalind Wyatt
Rosalind Wyatt trained initially in Calligraphy and Bookbinding, then completed an MA at the RCA in textiles. She now works as a studio based artist in London. She works across the worlds of film and fashion, design and art. Recent work includes training the leading cast how to write with a quill on the Oscar winning film ‘The Favourite’ and couture hand embroidered garments for Burberry UK.
Describe your approach to teaching:
I aim to inspire: everyone has the potential to be creative, it's just a matter of unlocking it or removing the barriers that prevent it. Then it takes time to 'find your voice' and develop and hone your own unique style.
What inspires your work?
Great texts and epic poems from a variety of cultures and sources. Words can unlock creative potential and take you to the source, creating a space for you to create. Visually, I love the look of handwriting and handwritten documents. I want to know the story behind the mark. For me, handwriting is like the 'voice' after the person has gone.
