Naomi Nevill

After falling in love with enamelling at university, Naomi has been incorporating enamel into her designs and jewellery. After studying it for a few years she went on to receive a scholarship from QEST to be trained by master enameller and engraver Phil Barnes and cloisonne enamelling specialist Fred Rich. Naomi studied Jewellery and Goldsmithing at UCA Rochester and has taught at The Silversmithing Studio in Henstead Arts Centre. Her work is currently being displayed on her website and in the Timothy Hawkins Gallery Hereford and her pieces have been featured in many magazines and books such as Colour and Texture in Jewellery, and The Craft and Design Magazine. She is part of the Guild and the Society of enamellers.

Describe your approach to teaching

When teaching I want to give my students a solid foundation using the traditional methods, then I like to allow my students more freedom to have fun with these new skills and be experimental.

What inspires your own work? 

I am inspired by the vibrant and exciting colours and patterns found in nature, from the intricate structure of honeycomb to the iridescent bird feathers or fish scales.
