Mark Anstee
Mark Anstee is an artist specializing in drawing. From singular
observational silverpoint studies to large-scale durational
performance drawings, Anstee has made work for major institutions
including Bluecoat Liverpool, De La Warr Pavilion Bexhill, Fabrica
Brighton, University of Manchester, IMMA Dublin, IFFM Belgium, and
at Stonehenge. In 2014 he was the lead artist commissioned by IWM
North for the centenary of the First World War.
Mark studied at Goldsmith's College and gained a MAFA at Brighton
University.
He teaches process/concept drawing at Brighton & Kingston
University, and to Master cabinet makers.
"For me a drawing is the first material form of an idea.
When I draw I am not making art - I am making a drawing. Everything
else follows from this."

war memorials, the gothic, the landscape, theatre, numerous
artist's & poets.
