Lorna Calcutt MA ACR
Programme Coordinator and Subject Leader for Ceramics (and Related Materials)
Lorna has been a tutor then Programme Coordinator at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation for fifteen years, and before that was employed as a conservator in national institutions and the private sector. Those experiences have helped her to develop an understanding of the profession in different contexts, and enable her to offer support to students whose career paths may also be varied.
"As an accredited conservator I adhere to the guiding principles of the profession, and this has been augmented by a role as an Intern Advisor for Icon (The Institute of Conservation). This has allowed me to participate in monitoring and mentoring intern development and also support my networking within the profession. Maintaining practical skills through workshop practice with students means I can enjoy the holistic nature of the role of a conservator."
Research interests: As a member of Icon, Lorna has developed research interests in enamel on metal, participating in working group meetings and maintaining affiliations with colleagues.
Lorna is an accredited member of Icon, member of ICOM and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
