Joanne Lamb

Joanne is a contemporary basketmaker with her own expressive style, taking inspiration from nature and the ingenuity of makers that have come before us. Following a successful career of fifteen years in textile design, she recently completed her Masters at the Royal College of Art and has been exhibiting her work as part of London Design Festival, London Craft Week, and at the RA Summer Exhibition.

Describe your approach to teaching
My approach to teaching is to create a holistic and expressive environment to learn and share. Nature is our starting point for creativity, and by combining natural materials with your intuition I’ll encourage you to emotionally connect with making.

What inspires your own work?
I’m driven by the desire to connect with and preserve the beauty of nature. By tuning into the seasons I hope to communicate what the planet has given us and inspire a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
