Jan Pickett

Jan Pickett is a tutor of over twenty-five years' experience, having studied Graphics and Typography at Cardiff Art College, then Calligraphy at Roehampton Institute. Her work is displayed in many Calligraphy books, including her own! She is a Fellow of both the Society of Scribes and Illuminators and the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society.

Describe your approach to teaching.
My approach to teaching is governed by my love of all calligraphic work, including creating exuberantly colourful decorated lettering and sharing this, as I believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience.

What inspires your own work?
Alongside teaching, I work commercially as a Calligrapher, Lettering Artist and Illustrator on whatever the brief requires. However my own work is hugely influenced by the wonderful world of nature and wildlife.
