Isabel Fletcher

Isabel Fletcher is a textile artist whose practice follows a fascination with waste materials, and the transformation of textiles from 2D to 3D. Stitch has become Isabel’s primary method of working as she seeks to identify their three-dimensional possibilities.

Isabel exhibits her work in galleries and exhibitions. She is a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists and trained at the Royal College of Art in Textiles. In addition, Isabel teaches at Kingston School of Art and Morley College.

Describe your approach to teaching
My approach is fundamentally to provide an engaging and experimental learning environment that builds confidence and skills to be carried into future making.

What inspires your own work?
I am inspired by disregarded offcuts which I view as glimpses into the craft of making. I intend for my work to increase empathy for possessions and encourage a reduction in consumption and waste.
