George Howarth
George is a pebble mosaic artist and runs Maggy Howarth Studios; a thriving design studio and workshop which has produced hundreds of commissioned artworks over 35 years. He is the son of renowned pebble mosaic artist and creator of the pre-cast technique, Maggy Howarth. George has taught similar courses at Maggy Howarth studios and now brings his expertise to West Dean.
Describe your approach to teaching
My approach is very hands on, with an emphasis on the fundamentals of design and how the medium of pebble mosaic can be used to express your own artistic vision.
What inspires your own work?
I am inspired by the eternal nature of pebbles, forged by the elements over millennia, now making an artwork that will be there for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
