Geoff Hands
Geoff Hands is a painter and exhibition reviewer based at the Phoenix Studios in Brighton. He has a degree in Fine Art, a PGCE and an MA in Creative Writing. He was a Foundation Art course leader for nearly 20 years and also teaches Fine Art at degree level.
Describe your approach to teaching.
I encourage students to respond personally to set themes and subject matter with a willingness to take risks with mark making, colour effects and materials.
What inspires your own work?
My painting is concerned with landscape imagery, colour impact and abstraction. I have a deep interest in how studio practice develops observation and memory within an improvisatory methodology.
