Frances Doherty
Frances is a ceramicist and tutor with 15 years experience. She
trained in 3D design at Brighton University and taught there,
Northbrook college and HMP Ford. Her work is sold internationally
at art fairs. She belongs to the Fiveways Artists Group, Brighton,
opening her house to the public each May.
Describe your approach to teaching:
My approach to teaching is to help a student to learn good
technique in order for them to become good problem solvers with
materials and construction methods.
What inspires your own work?
My work is inspired by plants in all their forms. I study the
patterns within plant forms and scale them up so that we see them
as though through an insects eyes.
