Derek Jones
Derek Jones has been the editor of Furniture & Cabinetmaking
magazine for the last seven years and has written extensively on
the subject. A furniture maker with more than thirty years
experience he now splits his time between teaching, demonstrating
and running a bespoke furniture making business.
Describe your approach to teaching.
I'm a firm believer that the best way to learn a new technique is
within the context of a live project where students can take away
an item of real use and the skills to carry on building similar
items.
What inspires your own work?
Good hand tool skills are transferable between disciplines and
wherever appropriate I enjoy borrowing methods of work from other
trades.
