Colin Simpson

Colin Simpson has been woodturning for over 30 years. He has been teaching and demonstrating woodturning for over eighteen years in his own workshop, throughout Europe, the USA and New Zealand. He is a past editor of world renowned magazine 'Woodturning', and now writes regularly for woodworking magazines.

What is your approach to teaching?

I believe it is important for students to have as much hands on practice as possible. This is preceded by clear demonstrations of the techniques used and followed by individual encouragement and support.

What inspires your own work?

Good shape and form in any medium, particularly ceramics. I love adding texture and colour to my work, particularly inspired by erosion by wind, water and nature's decay.
