Benjamin Deakin

Benjamin Deakin is an artist and Fine Art tutor with 20 years of professional experience. He studied at Central St Martins and Kingston University. He teaches at the Turps Painting School, West Dean College and Arts University Bournemouth. Benjamin exhibits regularly and is a member of Contemporary British Painting.

Describe your approach to teaching
My teaching approach is all about encouraging students to think with materials and to give them the confidence to try familiar and unfamiliar materials in new ways.

What inspires your own work?
Despite having been a painter for many years, I am still fascinated by the way in which paint can surprise me and take my work in unexpected directions.
