This course is suitable for all levels. The tutor is a clay animal artist and specialises in a form of modelling which is fast and easy to learn. She offers the option of imprinting the clay with texture for added interest, which is her speciality!
The principles of the technique will be introduced through a series of short demonstrations. You will then be guided through every step throughout.
You can expect to make one each of the following pieces:
1) A wall-mounted, animal portrait head 2) A reclined or seated animal 3) A four-legged, standing animal
At the end of the course, all work will be dried, then biscuit fired if you choose to leave it at the College. A clear glaze could be added. The tutor will discuss other options. An underglazing day with Alison Pink may be booked on Friday, 15 August 2025 (see website for details). Alternatively, you may leave instruction for Alison to apply basic underglaze to your animal sculpture on this day on your behalf; you will then be informed when they are refired and ready to collect from the College.
All clay and firing costs – large work in size and quantity may be charged extra.
