This course will run as three Wednesday evening workshop sessions across one month, with homework in between each.
This course is aimed at self-employed, creative professionals who have a website or Etsy shop already but want more product sales or commissions. It is suitable for anybody who has done any of the BA courses, including interior designers and those in restoration, as well as other creatives (visual arts, photography, crafts).
Purpose: To improve your website and branding, get more and better visitors and ultimately get more sales, orders and commissions from your website throughout the year.
Workshop 1 to focus on: Which creative products and services sell well online? What’s the purpose of your website e.g. to sell, portfolio, workshops, commissions? Is your website as good as it could be? Working on structure, navigation and categories, and branding/images (What do you want to be known for? How to attract your ideal clients?). Are you ready to sell online? E.g. process, postage Identify 5 – 8 actions for next session in two weeks
Workshop 2 to focus on: How to get more traffic? Firstly, SEO/keywords and writing better product descriptions or case studies, followed by how to write beautiful and timely promotional emails to stay in touch, use social media professionally and ‘traditional’ marketing such as events.
Workshop 3 to focus on: Feedback on writing product descriptions/case studies How to turn visitors into buyers with these six actions Create an online marketing and content plan for the next 3 – 6 months.
This is not a technical ‘how-to-design-a-website’ course, but a planning, branding and marketing course. You will need to make the improvements on your website in your own studio or home in between the sessions, or after the course. This is not suitable for creatives who do not have a website yet.
Please note: this course runs across three evenings from 6pm–9pm, 4 and 18 June and 2 July
On this course the tutor will supply all of the materials, including the presentations, worksheets, additional resources.
Pen and a notebook (or laptop)
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).

Students arrive between - 5.30pm-6pm
Course teaching - 6-9pm
Teaching finishes - 9pm
Short courses are open to anyone aged 18 and over. The course fee covers tuition and materials where stated. You will need to bring all other items listed under the Materials to bring section.
Coffee and tea are included in the course fee, but you will need to bring lunch with you to eat in the refreshments room. There are also plenty of other local venues to purchase food.

There is a small lift to higher floors or stairs.
Short course students are required to sign a safety compliance form as part of West Dean Health and Safety regulations.
