Design and cut your own small rubber printing blocks, taking inspiration from historical block printing, textiles, endpapers and 1950s wallpaper designs. Guided by the tutor, you will then experiment with repetition and pattern to create a suitable small-scale design for printing on paper and/or fabric. There will be the opportunity to print a small collection of cards if desired.At the end of the evening, you will take away your stamps and collection of printed cards and samples. You will have been introduced to simple printmaking techniques and be inspired to continue working from home.This course is an opportunity for you to relax and have fun with print. Included
The college will provide rubber blocks, cards, fabric and paper per student, and some printing inks, rags, studio safe solvent, newsprint and sundries to share amongst the group.
Additional information
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).
Evening Timetable
Students arrive between - 5.30pm-6pm
Course teaching - 6-9pm
Teaching finishes - 9pm
Short courses are open to anyone aged 18 and over. The course fee covers tuition and materials where stated. You will need to bring all other items listed under the Materials to bring section.
Refreshments
Coffee and tea are included in the course fee, but you will need to bring lunch with you to eat in the refreshments room. There are also plenty of other local venues to purchase food.

This venue has steps to the front reception, with limited access via a side gate to the ground floor. There is a small lift to higher floors or stairs.
Safety
Short course students are required to sign a safety compliance form as part of West Dean Health and Safety regulations.
