This course is suitable for all levels of competency and there is no sewing required.
In this small group class, Justyna from Addicted to Patterns studio will guide you through each of the steps at a gentle pace, ensuring you have all the time and support needed to create a beautiful 25cm diameter lampshade.
This workshop will help you to understand the art of hand decoration, by experimenting with a variety of basic printing methods, such as cut-out paper stencils and silk-screen technique.
During the workshop, you will explore mark-making, and you will experiment with forms and colours which will reflect the botanical inspiration. We will talk about the composition and create a unique repeat pattern for a lampshade of 25cm diameter.
You will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to prepare the design for print and explore various techniques of how to apply patterns to a lampshade decoration.
You will practise skills to develop your confidence in handling materials and equipment while creating images and developing them into surface decoration.
On this course the tutor will supply most of the materials, including lampshade ring sets, backing film, fabrics, printing medium and lampshade making tape.
On this course the College will supply some of the materials, including rulers, scissors, scalpels, card (200gsm) cutting mats, paint mixing trays and masking tape.
