West Dean, Bloomsbury is situated just behind the British Museum, so it is a perfect opportunity to study there and back at the studio. You will start the day in the Greek section of the British Museum where you will learn to draw a Greek statue. You will meet at West Dean, Bloomsbury and then go as a group to The British Museum.
In the afternoon you will go back to the studio and draw a life model inspired by a Greek statue.
During the course you will learn to improve your observation skills through measuring and looking for shapes and you will learn to draw expressively and experiment with tone.
The aim is to practise drawing in a museum and studio and experiencing the contrasting settings and to experience drawing a static sculpture and then a living breathing being.
On this course the College will supply some of the materials including paper, charcoal, and a rubber per student. A model for the afternoon of the course.
Please wear appropriate clothing/aprons for the workshop or studio, this includes stout covered footwear (no sandals or open toes).
