Interior Designer
What was your background before KLC?
I was an Office Manager and Assistant for a tech company based in Kings Cross before then I had been working in Media sales.
Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
I think that interior design is more than just making somewhere aesthetically pleasing, for me it is about creating a mood and developing the way a person experiences a place. I love the feeling that comes with creating a place that will make people feel something they will remember.
Tell us about your experience with the course
The course has been very intense. I’ve learned a lot about myself and my way of working. My classmates have been amazing and even though we were studying through a pandemic we have grown to be really close and always found ways to support each other.
What are your design interests/strengths?
I really enjoy using software to communicate my designs. I am quite quick at picking up new software and enjoy exploring it. In terms of what I enjoy designing, I would say that my real passion lies in making spaces that make people feel comfortable and relaxed.
What space inspires you?
The British Museum or the V&A. I love the grandeur and the mix of traditional and modern. They’re two places I love to go to alone to just sit and absorb it all.
Who is your favourite designer?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular favourite designer. I am drawn to different styles depending on my mood and current inspirations.
Where to from here?
I hope to continue to grow my knowledge and experience. I will be looking for internships and to experience both residential and commercial design environments.
What did you think of the course?
Since starting this course, I have come a long way in broadening my knowledge of interior design both conceptually and practically. The course has changed the way I view things from a design perspective and has allowed me to learn new software skills such as CAD, as well as advancing my existing creative Adobe skills.
Where to from here?
I am looking to work as a junior designer for an interior design studio to gain further practical experience. I am particularly interested in design that considers well-being, nature and sustainability and I am eager to broaden my knowledge in this area.
