Interior Designer
What was your background before KLC?
Prior to joining KLC, my professional background had been anchored to the art industry, having worked at the international auction house, Christie’s for 7.5 years. During my time at Christie’s I held positions across a wide range of departments including Client Services, e-Commerce, Art Transport & Logistics, Technology and Marketing.
Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
My decision to study Interior Design also came from my desire to learn new skills and explore my creativity which I felt had not been suitably challenged in my career thus far. In addition to this aspect, I felt that my roles had been very client-focused which I thought would translate well into Interior Design.
What did you think of the course?
I really loved my KLC experience and I was really impressed by the speed at which the Full-Time Certificate course was taught and the speed at which I was able to learn everything! No day was the same, which I think assisted with the high-energy dynamic of the course.
What are your design interests/strengths?
I really enjoy space planning and coming up with an innovative approach to the way that we interact with space within the home. I enjoy creating concept boards, FF & E schemes, and visual presentations. My strengths include 3D modelling in Sketch Up, Auto CAD and rendering.
What space inspires you?
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston is a truly inspiring space. The space was built with the intention of being a museum to house Isabella Stewart Gardner’s growing art collection, and in addition to being her home. The building covers a range of architectural and period styles and blends the visual display of artwork, tapestries, and furniture. The collection has been preserved to reflect the way Gardner curated the display when she was alive.
Who is your favourite designer?
I am a big fan of the work of 2LG Studio, Beata Heuman, Rosie Seabrook and Owl Design.
Where to from here?
Graduating from KLC in this strange time has allowed me to sharpen my newly acquired skills by practicing on friends’ floor plans. I have had two remote work experience placements which has allowed me to obtain industry experience and demonstrated my ability to easily adapt to a new work environment setting.
