Interior Designer
What is your professional background prior to KLC?
Just before starting the course, I’d had a long career break to raise my 3 children of over 10 years, but before that, I had worked for the NHS as an Auxiliary nurse within the ENT department.
When you were looking for online courses, what appealed to you about this course?
The reason this course appealed to me was the fact it was flexible and that it had deadlines, I knew that I would work much better with these in place, I would also be part of a cohort working alongside other people and have the support of my peers as well as the tutors. Another factor was that the course is validated by the University of Sussex.
How does the course fit your lifestyle?
My children are all still at home and two of them are still at school so I needed the course to fit around family life and alongside my partner running his own business. I can work at any time of the day/week to make sure I can meet the deadlines set and also continue running our family life.
What are you enjoying most about the course?
The fact I have gained far more skills than I ever thought, not only academic, creative and software skills, but I have gained so much more confidence personally too. I have met some wonderful friends within our cohort with whom I have the utmost respect that I will continue to be in touch.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere! I would always look around me wherever I was and study things but the course has taught me to take on board this information and log it, analyse it and see how it can help inform and push my creative ideas.
From day trips out, holidays, driving, walking the dog and talking to lots of different people. Not forgetting that social media also plays a huge, part in my inspiration too. On Instagram, I follow all sorts of people from travel bloggers to restaurants, magazines, shops and of course lots of fellow interior designers, architects and enthusiasts.
I make sure I get out and about to experience lots of different things.
