Interior Designer
What was your background before KLC?
I had been working as a corporate lawyer in the City for about five years when I decided to leave and start studying at KLC.
Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
I had always been creative and while there were many things that I loved about the fast-paced environment of corporate law, the job left very little room for any creative outlet. I have always been fascinated by the way that interior design can completely transform the way that we feel about and experience a space.
What did you think of the course?
I was drawn to KLC’s Diploma course due to its condensed format and strong vocational focus, both of which were important to me as a career-changer keen for a fresh challenge. The pace of the course means that the learning curve is very steep and as a student you have tangible evidence of your progress very quickly.
The year has gone by so quickly, but the highlights for me have been the talks delivered by incredibly talented and inspirational industry professionals and the group project, which required us to work together with other members of our cohort to design and develop a proposal for an adolescent spinal rehabilitation centre. The group project provided a more realistic insight into what it would be like working as part of a creative team in a design practice and I really enjoyed the collaborative aspect of this process.
Where to from here?
I am very excited to continue to build upon and apply the skills that KLC has given me in my future career as a designer.
