Interior Designer
What was your background before KLC?
In my first career, I was an archivist and while it was satisfying to create order from the chaotic records I received, it wasn’t nearly as interesting or challenging as renovating and redesigning my own homes. Interior Design was my first love — I bought my first design magazine at 15 — but at the time it didn’t seem like a viable career choice. Relocating to the UK from Canada offered me the opportunity to formally study so I took the leap.
Why did you decide to study Interior Design?
I loved transforming houses and decided to make a career in it. After a bit of freelancing in Canada, I was keen to learn a formal design process and understand more about how buildings and construction methods differ in the UK.
What are your design interests/strengths?
What I love about interior design is the challenge of finding an elegant solution, one that is both beautiful and functional. My approach is definitely more architectural than decorative, with space planning the part of the process I’m most excited by. As much as I enjoy the technical side of design and feel it's crucial for a good end result, I love the art involved in sourcing and layering materials and pieces to create a unique environment. I am always seeking to improve my visual communication skills and thoroughly enjoy seeing the whole design come together in drawings and presentation visuals.
What space inspires you?
Challenging, demanding spaces, small spaces, kitchens, bathrooms and bespoke joinery are what I enjoy most.
Who is your favourite designer?
As an insatiably curious person where design is concerned, I find the most interesting designers are the ones who talk about their process and how they make decisions in their work.

I would welcome the opportunity to work on sustainable and adaptive reuse projects.
