In the final talk of the Leadership in Design series, Inge Theron will be examining the development and communication of a clear design vision and direction for projects, teams, and organizations, and aligning design initiatives with broader business goals and objectives.

Inge Theron, Founder and Creative Director of FACEGYM, is a woman on a mission to educate a generation on skin health and facial fitness. Firmly establishing herself as a disruptive female entrepreneur, Theron has created one of the world’s fastest growing brands. A revolutionary, never-seen-before concept, uniquely positioned at the intersection of beauty, wellness, and fitness, FaceGym is the first and only gym for the face powered by high-performance, award-winning skincare, expert tool innovations and one-of-a-kind workout moves.

Theron honed her passion and expertise in the industry working as a beauty and wellness columnist for the Financial Times. The self-titled ‘Spa Junkie’, Theron spent over ten years exploring the latest high-end aesthetics, fitness, and nutrition treatments. During this period, Theron tried and tested multiple, often invasive, procedures which left her suffering the impact of injectable abuse. It wasn’t until one particular face-lifting procedure left Theron housebound, that she realised enough was enough, and decided there must be a better way to age confidently and gracefully. Channelling all of her extensive research and knowledge, Theron set to creating a concept all of her own.

In 2014, FaceGym was born. Providing a unique, non-invasive, facial fitness experience for all, based on the notion of training the 40+ forgotten muscles in the face to deliver both instant and long-term sculpting, lifting, toning, and brightening results. Launching with a pop-up in Selfridges London, it wasn’t long before the idea truly took off, receiving critical acclaim from celebrities, media, and consumers. Fast forward eight years and FaceGym is now an incredibly successful global business, with eleven studio locations in four cities around the world and multiple retail partners including Net-A-Porter and Sephora.

Having already become synonymous for creating advanced-technology devices to deliver professional results in studio workouts and at home, in 2021, Theron and her team took the brand to the next level. Distilling all of her knowledge together with FaceGym's expertise, they created an efficacious, high-performance skincare line to further enhance the exceptional results of the workouts and tools. The consciously created, vegan and cruelty-free collection has already won and been nominated for over 40 prestigious skincare awards, an incredible accolade in the first year since launch.

While balancing FaceGym’s international growth and two young children, Theron continues to travel across the world unearthing the latest in beauty, health, and wellness to keep FaceGym at the forefront of beauty and tech innovation. Hailed as a tastemaker, Theron is often called upon to comment on the latest trends, future predictions as well as joining expert judging panels at prestigious industry awards.

Outside of her time as a journalist and founder, Theron has designed and programmed many spa destinations around the world including Tierra Santa at the Faena Hotel in Miami, The Bulgari in London and is currently working on a number of exciting upcoming projects.
